Call it a case of Paris envy.
Shortly after Hollywood TrashGirl Paris Hilton got herself some real jail time for a driving violation, fellow TrashGirl Lindsay Lohan has gone out and attempted to copycat the “That’s Hot” girl with a DUI violation and booking of her own. Could Hilton’s example and Lohan’s rivalry with her be the cause behind LL’s booking?
Lohan’s been on a self-destructive “party girl” streak for years, ruining her own rep long before this latest incident. But with Hilton grabbing so much press for messing up her life, could a micro-sentence in California county jails become the new “Betty Ford Rehab Center” cry for attention?
All in all, if these “famous for being famous” celebs want to improve their lot in life, they’d be better off taking an Orlando vacation than a trip to the Big House. Stranger things have happened … but only in Hollywood.

Get your writing pens handy because I’ve just stumbled upon incontrovertible proof of the existence of a deity: the “incredibly offensive as a children’s movie” flick, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, failed to be the “opening weekend” box office of Spider-Man 3.
At the final tally, it looks like $116 million for the Johnny Depp piece of trash, compared to a much heftier $151 million for Spider-Man 3. Just goes to show that good ol’ Stan Lee sells better than the Disney brain-fart that is the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise.
While critics have attempted to shellac Spidey 3, the movie is well over $300 million domestically and rocketing past $800 million worldwide. A summer-movie blitz has taken some of the steam out of Spidey’s sales, but it was still going strong enough to manage third place this week, a full month into its run, trailing only the newly-released Pirates and the week-old Shrek the Third.
Spider-Man 3 was accused of having too many villains, but played on classic themes like self-sacrifice, the dangers of ego, and even forgiveness, which has seemed to play well to audiences of all ages. Compared to the bawdy, suggestive themes of the Pirates movie franchise, Spidey 3 seems to be the more family-friendly fare.
A rare moment of sanity from moviegoers. Will Hollywood listen?

Any conservative going anywhere near Michael Moore’s new fictumentary, Sicko, would need to wear motorcycle sunglasses to enter the theater unrecognized. According to early reports, there’s not much they’d be interested in seeing, anyway, as it is just more of Moore’s typical truth distortions and outright propaganda.
The main injustice he focuses on is the tendency of insurers to deny expensive procedures and claims, typically due to failure of patients to obtain pre-approval for procedures. While such situations typically tick people off, what Sicko Moore doesn’t acknowledge in his screed is that such injustices are not all that common. It happens - no one denies that - but the film gives one the impression it’s happening at a rate far more often than what is actually taking place.
The film also fails to acknowledge that there are extenuating circumstances to some of the denials. Sometimes these extenuating circumstances legitimately make the insurers look bad because they’re being shifty. But sometimes the patients are at fault, too.
The main weakness of Sicko Moore’s film, though, is that is solution is a massive, government-run health care system that looks to government to be something it never has been: more efficient, cost effective and cutting-edge than the private sector. In essence, therefore, the film boils down to a campaign propaganda piece for Hillary’s White House bid.
Considering Obama is beating Hillary in most polls these days and there’s talk of Gore launching a new bid in which he might blow both Obama and Hillary out of the water, Moore may have climbed on board the wrong Democratic bandwagon.

It appears Michael Moore may have violated the US trade embargo against Cuba in the making of his forthcoming documentary, SICKO. In the film, Moore takes a handful of 9-11 rescue workers to Cuba in an attempt to prove the island nation has a better, more effective health care system than the United States.
That’s typical Moore liberalism and ridiculousness, but who cares, right? People long ago have either drank the Michael Moore Kool-Aid or he hasn’t. Trouble is, in doing so, Moore apparently did not comply with US law. Although he filed some of the necessary paperwork, online reports suggest more may have filed paperwork with incomplete information. Whether that’s valid or not, what appears to be valid is that Moore did not wait for government approval of his trip under his phoney-baloney “full time journalist” exception clause.
Of course, Moore’s no more of a full-time journalism than any blogger.
While Moore didn’t necessarily buy a set of Studio RTA furniture while he was down there, his journey may cost him a hefty fine; I suggest the fine equal the amount of Moore’s personal and business earnings from whatever SICKO rakes in at the box office. After all, Moore is rich… does he believe he needs to pay the government HIS fair share or not?
Liberalism ain’t so fun when it’s pointed at YOU, is it Michael?
